Joplin is located in Jasper County 53 miles west of Springfield along Interstate 44 near the Kansas and Oklahoma state lines. Joplin is a city located in parts of southern Jasper County and northern Newton County in the southwestern corner of Missouri. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 45,504.
A colorful past and a lively present characterize Joplin. Rich in history from our lead mining past, Joplin has grown to become the fourth largest metro area in Missouri. Joplin is full of friendly people eager to share their Ozark hospitality.

Located just seven miles from the Kansas border, ten miles from the Oklahoma border and 50 miles from Arkansas, Joplin attracts thousands of daily visitors who work here, shop here and enjoy the many attractions the city offers.
